Each May, Queensland marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence. 💜
My office has supported the wonderful organisation Friends With Dignity for a few years now and I'm asking asking you for your support this winter as well.
Every year, Friends with Dignity hold a PJ Drive where we ask the community to donate new pyjamas for children from babies to size kids 16. 🛌 🧸
These PJs are then given to local refuges and services for the children in their care ensuring that they have a lovely fresh pair of jammies to cuddle in to.
My office will be a collection point for these donations and deliver them to Friends with Dignity at the end of May.

👍Chatting with the fabulous Chris at Jindalee Day and Night Chemist while I got some iron tablets, I was excited to hear he's going to be doing the training to dispense the contraceptive pill! From July 2024, Pharmacies will be eligible to fill the script for traditional hormonal contraception. Pharmacists like Chris are well trained and with additional training can offer even more services to women, saving us time and money too!

As part of the upcoming budget, the Government will deliver a $1,000 energy rebate for every Queensland household. The rebate will be made to all households from 1 July, 2024. It means the average household won’t pay a cent on their next quarterly energy bill after July 1.
Jess, this doesn't make any sense. The money is supposedly coming from Coal Royalties, but the coal price has tanked, which means this is a straight out borrowing to fund this largesse prior to the next election. We're just adding it to the ever growing QLD State credit card.

UPDATE: As of 4pm I was notified by TMR that there was a technical fault on the pedestrian and cycling detector loop this morning on the Sinnamon Rd Jindalee on ramp. Long story short, the lights detected movement and forced a red light for safety. At my request, the project team will closely monitor the site to ensure no faults are reported and the lights are not causing more issues.

CENTENARY BRIDGE UPGRADE SINNAMON RD ONRAMP TRAFFIC SIGNALS :
Thanks to those who’ve contacted me today about the traffic conditions this morning on the Centenary Bridge Upgrade and the new traffic signals on the Sinnamon Rd onramp at Jindalee.
I got stuck in this mornings traffic chaos too and I am just as frustrated and concerned as everyone else.
Obviously the increased commute time is unsustainable, so as a matter of priority, I've requested the project team and engineers address the issue immediately to ensure that the traffic flow is managed while also ensuring our motorists and workers are kept safe.
With the Centenary Bridge Upgrade now in major construction phase, the lights were recently installed to ensure greater safety for local motorists while heavy vehicles accessed the site.
Rest assured I am working on an urgent solution along with the Centenary Bridge Project Team and will update the community in due course. ... See MoreSee Less

Matthew Vanderbyl sorry I wasn’t able to respond to your tag on the 4074 Facebook page, the comments were disabled before I could respond. If you need more info please reach out to the office on [email protected] or 37372120
Please do not forget about people on bikes and scooters (vulnerable people) trying to access the path/bikeway there too.
Thanks Jess. It's not great that this little move is backing up traffic past both schools and basically gridlocked jindalee.

Earlier this month, it was amazing to be able to go to New Zealand and see my granddad Murray and introduce him to my daughter Elyse. At 96 years young, Murray is doing well after losing his wife of 70 years, my nanna Margaret. Grandparents are such an amazing part of our lives, and I am so lucky at almost 40 years of age to still have Murray in my life. ... See MoreSee Less
