Mount Ommaney is a beautiful community in the heart of South West Brisbane, bordered by the Brisbane River to the north and west, and the Ipswich Motorway to the south.
It is home to a vibrant multicultural community, with some of Brisbane’s best Vietnamese restaurants, and proudly hosts many wonderful events every year, including HOLI festival. Approximately half of all Mount Ommaney residents were born, or have a parent who was born overseas, including Jess herself.
Mount Ommaney also has a thriving business community, renowned throughout the state for its innovation. Darra and Sumner are particularly well known for their light industrial areas, which is why the Sumner Road overpass gets busier every day.
Mount Ommaney is comprised of the “Shire” suburbs of Oxley, Corinda and part of Sherwood to the east, and the “Centenary” suburbs of Jindalee, Mount Ommaney, Jamboree Heights, Westlake, Sumner, Middle Park, and Riverhills to the West. In the centre is the enclave of Sinnamon Park and Seventeen Mile Rocks, and the electorate recently gained Darra, one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs, with a proud industrial history going back to the mid 1800’s.
If you’re a young family looking for a place to call home, you’ll appreciate the fantastic local state primary and secondary schools, and if you’re looking for a lifestyle location to settle and be part of a wonderful community with the potential to age in place, you’ll make plenty of new friends in the wonderful community groups and enjoy the green spaces and beautiful parks.
