Jess Pugh is the proud local member for the amazing community of Mount Ommaney. She is raising her three children Allegra, Heath and Elyse in Riverhills with her husband Talbot. She is a proud “Middle Park SS Mum”, and loves living in the Centenary suburbs.
Her favourite places in the electorate are Rocks Riverside Park, and Lorikeet Park in Mount Ommaney.
Jess entered politics after a long stint as a business manager in hospitality, at family owned Restaurant Two. She believes that her time in the hospitality industry was invaluable experience in preparing her for politics. It’s a job where you deal with people from all walks of life, and every single day is different. It’s also why Jess is so incredibly passionate about supporting small business in Mount Ommaney.
One of the things Jess loves most about her job is meeting with passionate locals about the issues that matter to them. Whether it’s climate change and renewable energy, improving local public transport and road infrastructure, or a new big idea, Jess believes that the most important thing a Local member can be, is responsive and accessible to the community.
Her approach to community service stems from the service ethos she learned in the hospitality industry. Jess believes that local members should be active and involved members of their community, which is why you’ll often see her volunteering at school fetes or conducting mobile offices in the electorate.
In her first term, Jess has worked hard to secure funding for critical infrastructure upgrades, including funding for an upgrade to the Jindalee Bridge on the Centenary Motorway. She has a strong record of delivering on her promises, completing upgrades to the Sumners Road Overpass, the Darra Park and Ride, and the Ipswich Motorway from Darra to Rocklea.
Jess is passionate about ensuring that she’s accessible to all residents of the electorate, about any state issue that they wish to discuss. If you have an issue to raise with Jess, or need some advice about who to ask for help- call Jess and her friendly office on 07 3737 2120.
